His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester formally opened Vindonwestech's parent company's premises in the UK yesterday. He met Vindon’s directors who gave him a tour of the 29,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facilities that are now fully functional and geared up to support the company's ambitious growth plans for the future. His Royal Highness was shown the specialist products and services that Vindon provides, including stability storage, ultra-low temperature facilities and cryogenic sample storage for stem cells.

Vindon Scientific relocated its headquarters to Kingsway, Rochdale in 2008. Vindon operates in several markets, including the healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, food sectors and heritage sector It is a leading supplier of environmental control products and services for the management of temperature, humidity and light, where controlled environment storage is needed.

His Royal Highness said of his visit: “it was good to see that companies such as Vindon were investing in future technologies.”

Patrick Jackson, Business Development Director at Vindon, concluded: “We were delighted to welcome the Duke of Gloucester to our new home here at Kingsway. To be chosen to represent this area of Rochdale is a great honour. We’re pleased to see continued investment in the Business Park, which will encourage more new ventures to join us.”

Vindonwestech is the new name for stability storage services and products in the USA. With new premises now open in Kennesaw near Atlanta, we now offer pharma and biopharma storage, validation and calibration, stability storage and heritage storage facilities to the same high levels currently enjoyed by Vindon's UK and European customers.

Vindonwestech will also distribute Vindon's high quality equipment to the pharmaceutical research, manufacturing and healthcare markets in the US including environmental products, ranging from small bench-top cabinets to large purpose-built rooms.

Vindon had a working partnership with Westech for over three years, during which time it became apparent that the American market could benefit from both our reputation for pharma and biopharm storage and more than 40 years of expertise in providing equipment and services to this market. Biological & Ultra-Low temperature storage

All of our Ultra-low chambers are services and validated annually

Vindowestech's Ultra low temperature secure storage chambers are ideal for biological and pharmaceutical products.

The chambers are validated annually with all the documentation being pre-authorised for use prior to the commencement of the validation. The validation and associated documentation are completed by trained Vindonwestech engineers. The completed documentation is checked by another validation engineer before a final check and approval by the Vindon QA department.

Our in-house service engineers service the chambers annually, inline with Vindonwestech's rigorous service procedures.

All of our chambers are continually monitored via our CFR 21 part 11 compliant data acquisition system. The validated data acquisition system will alert our on-call team if any deviations outside the specification limits.

E.g. -80ºC (-5/+7ºC) Any reading above -73ºC or below -85ºC will alert our on-call team to respond to site within two hours - and in the event of a chamber failure, Vindonwestech has spare dedicated and validated chambers to allow for the controlled movement of your product, protecting its integrity at all times.

Total climatic and impact packaging

Vindonwestech's new barrier foil packaging solution, is designed to eliminate potential damage caused by moisture ingress to Vindon products when they're shipped to us, providing a “total climatic and impact packaging solution”.

The packaging consists of an inner layer of aluminium barrier foils that protects products from moisture/oxygen ingress, aggressive gasses and temperature extremes. This foil layer combines with a desiccant inside the barrier foil bag to absorb any existing water vapour and to neutralise any water vapour which may pass through the barrier foil.

The barrier foil bags and corrosion prevention liners have no limitation on size or shape and are ideally suited for our products - requiring no preservation methods which require cleaning - such as wax or grease.

Barrier foils derive their protective properties from a combination of materials and a strong laminate construction.

Comprising 3 or 4 plys of different materials and bonded together using adhesive or extrusion coating, these provide a flexible structure with a measured barrier efficiency up to 80 times greater than polythene.

Precise control of temperature and relative humidity is crucial to the long term preservation and care of collections. Our unique floor mounted stainless steel ducting, situated beneath a perforated shelving system, allows maximum circulation of conditioned air to all parts of the collection in the storage chamber.

The validated data acquisition system will alert our on-call team of any deviations outside the specification limits. e.g. -20ºC (+/-5ºC) Any readings above -15ºC or below-25ºC will alert our on-call team to respond to site within two hours.

In the event of a chamber failure, Vindon have spare dedicated and validated chambers to allow for the controlled movement of your product to protect its integrity.

Our stability storage suite provides environmentally controlled rooms dedicated to the secure storage of pharmaceutical products, clinical trial material, solvents, dry powder inhalers (dpis), pressurised metered dose inhalers (pMDIs), nasal sprays, nebulisers, tablets and capsules - and pharmaceutical bulk chemicals on stability storage.

In addition we have photostability cabinets for testing pharmaceuticals to measure their level of degradation in the presence of ultraviolet and visible light.
